The City of Canton Public Works Department is committed to providing the most efficient and economical service possible to the citizens of Canton. The Public Works Department includes right-of-way management, streets and parks maintenance and inclement weather support, among many other important city functions.
This position is responsible for supervising the maintenance of all city infrastructure including providing assistance to assigned crews performing manual labor, maintenance, and construction work for the purpose of maintaining and repairing city roads, curbs, shoulders, and sidewalks with the City of Canton right-of-ways. Plan, schedules and assigns work to crew members; determines equipment, materials, and personnel needed for each job; supervises site operations; ensures work is performed in a safe and efficient manner and results in quality work products.
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with three (3) to five (5) years’ of managerial experience or service with crews of five or more.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia. Must possess the ability to obtain a Class A driver’s license within six months from date of hire.

Starting hourly rate for this position is $17.28 - $20.04 dependent upon dependent upon qualifications & experience.
